This month, your Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence is offering a number of opportunities for you to engage with your peers around the world, ask questions about ERAU-W policies and hone your own teaching practice. Please join us for the live events, participate in the online discussions and/or call us to set up an individual consultation.
Special Session: Content and Community for Your English Language Learners
As online education continues to grow, so does the need for differentiated instruction in the online environment. The educational backgrounds and English proficiency of ERAU-W students can differ. Due to this variation of English skills, English Language Learners (ELLs) often have increased needs in an online course because they are navigating two languages as well as the technology itself (de la Varre, Keane & Irvin, 2011).
Join Cristina Cottom, from RCTLE for this 45-minute Special Session that will explore some challenges experienced by ELLs as well as offer strategies and tools to promote inclusion, understanding, and success. The session will be offered at the following times:
- Wednesday, August 23 @ 11 AM ET
- Wednesday, August 23 @ 8 PM ET
