The Month of May is filled with celebrations! Graduations, May Day, May the 4th be with you (Star Wars fans, we got you!), Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day (this is your reminder), and Memorial Day to name a few. There are festivals and activities which include dancing, food, and donning graduation caps.
How will you celebrate learning in your classrooms? We have many opportunities for you to engage with your peers to discuss celebrating learning. Please join us for live events on using humor in the classroom, participate in online discussions about how to tie learning outcomes to student engagement, and/or contact us to set up an individual consultation to hone your own teaching practice.
EV-Anar: Be Intentional: Use LOs/MOs for Student Engagement
Learning Outcomes (LOs) and Module Objectives (MOs) are how we gauge what students need to know and assess if they know it. Is it possible to tie learning outcomes into student engagement conversations? Join Dr. Juliet Cassidy-Floyd, Faculty Development Instructor, as she discusses how to use LOs/MOs to make student connections by being intentional in your planning and practice.

Knock Knock! Who’s There? Using Humor in the Classroom!
We all love to laugh. There is a reason for that. Laughter has so many positive physiological effects, but did you know that humor in the classroom can also improve learning and your connection with students? Join Angie Atwell, Faculty Development Instructor, for the May Special Session to learn more about the positive effects humor has on learning and explore some strategies you can use in your class.

Teaching Tip: Faculty Academic Quality Standards (FAQS)
Expectations for ERAU-W instructors were recently updated. Instructors are required to respond to at least 1/3 of discussion posts.
Use your roster to keep track:
- Pick 1/3 of your class to engage with during week 1.
- Then another 1/3 during week 2.
- Then the remainder during week 3.
- For week four, go back to the list from week 1.
This helps you stay organized and ensure that you are personally engaging with everyone.
Use your roster to help you engage with your students. Make notes about where they work, what reservations they have about the course or areas of interest. These notes will help you connect with the student, and ensure you are connecting course content to student relevancy. A win for everyone!
