Can you believe it’s November already? 2018 is just around the corner. As always, the Rothwell Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence is thankful for you – the Worldwide faculty. Introducing Dr. Stacy Kelley to the RCTLE Team!

Please join RCTLE in welcoming the newest member of our team, Dr. Stacy Kelley, Grants Specialist. Stacy comes to us from the National Science Foundation (NSF) where she led a team in grants administration and worked alongside Program Officers to facilitate merit review. Stacy enjoys helping ERAU full-time faculty locate funding opportunities and turn their ideas into highly-competitive grant proposals. She is a life-long learner with B.S. degrees in science and economics and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Illinois. Writing and managing grants along the way, Stacy has lived and worked overseas with the U.S. Peace Corps, taught, and conducted scientific research as an undergraduate and graduate student that resulted in scholarly publications. In her free time, Stacy enjoys spending time with her husband, watching NASA rocket launches, sticking her toes in the sand, and traveling the world.


This Month’s EV-Anar: Providing Effective APA Feedback Efficiently

APA is the standard formatting style for ERAU-W. It’s important for faculty teaching all subjects to give quality feedback to their students on APA. How can you do this effectively AND efficiently? Cristina Cottom, our Research Specialist, will share several tips and strategies for how to do so in this session!

Teaching Tip: Message Students Who…

Proactive communication can be invaluable for helping your students succeed. As Sara Ombres described in the October Special Session, Canvas includes a “Message Students Who…” feature for each assignment in your course. You can access this option from the Gradebook. For each assignment, you can:

  • Message all students who have not submitted (to remind them of the due date, your late policy, and the importance of the assignment)
  • Message all students who have scored below a certain score (to provide them some suggestions on how to improve on future submissions)
  • Message all students who have scored above a certain score (to congratulate them and encourage them to keep up the hard work!)
