Holidays

The May 2021 term includes 2 Federal Holidays where the university is closed. This may entail rescheduling your weekly session. Typically, EV sessions are not held on federal/university holidays which is the case for both Memorial Day & 4th of July this year (observed July 5). Refer to the Rescheduling EV Sessions post for more information.

Holiday Reminders

The following dates will be observed by ERAU-Worldwide:

  • Veterans Day – Wednesday November 11
  • Thanksgiving – Thursday November 26 through Sunday, November 29
  • Holiday Break – Tuesday December 22 through Sunday January 3

During these times, communication with the RCTLE staff may be limited.

If you are teaching during a term with a Holiday Break, the dates have already been adjusted in your course. No action is required on your behalf.

  • There should be no items due during these periods. You are encouraged to be flexible with due dates and late penalties during this time.
  • You are also encouraged to include an announcement in your course reminding students about the breaks.

Zoom is improving security options and will require a waiting room or passcode on all meeting rooms. In order to provide the most secure environment, Embry-Riddle will enable both a passcode and a waiting room for all meetings. For more information please visit the Zoom Help Center.

Workday

To facilitate a smooth transition from the current payroll system to the new Workday system, the November term pay schedule will be modified.  The November term pay was scheduled to be equally distributed on 12/3/2020, 12/17/2020, 12/31/2020, and 1/14/2021.  The first two payments were issued on 12/3 and 12/17.  The final two payments are going to be combined in the 12/31/2020 payment. There will not be a payment on 1/14/2021 as scheduled. 


October 2020

Final grades are due by December 27 @ 11:59 PM ET.

In observance of Winter Break, ERAU will be closed from December 22 to January 3.

Updates to Canvas.

Zoom now requires a waiting room or passcode in all meeting rooms. For more information see the Waiting Room article in the Zoom Help Center.

College of Aeronautics

Faculty teaching in the October team are required to attend a preterm meeting hosted by their Department Chair.

  • Graduate Studies Department (Wednesday, 21 Oct, 12 pm and 8 pm ET)
  • Department of Undergraduate Studies (Tuesday, 20 Oct, 4 pm)
  • Department of Engineering and Technology (Your Department Chair will reach out with more information)

College of Business

Plan on attending the Faculty Engagement Session on 10/21 at 6 pm ET. More to follow on the COB Resource page.


September 2020

  • Simple Syllabus is live for Online Courses.  The Course Navigation has changed.  Remind students the Syllabus is on the Course Navigation Menu.  They can also find links to specific assignments under Summary.  
  • If you don’t see your syllabus email eccdl@erau.edu.
  • Be mindful of our Worldwide students’ circumstances and feel free to extend due dates or accept late work as needed to accommodate those impacted by natural disasters and/or illness. Try posting an announcement reminding students to reach out to you should they find themselves needing more time for assignments.
  • The September term runs from Wednesday to Tuesday. Feel free to post an announcement reminding students of due dates.

August 2020

  • Simple Syllabus goes live for Online Courses.  The Course Navigation has changed.  Remind students they can find the Syllabus under the Syllabus option in the Course Navigation Menu.  They can also find links to specific assignments under Summary.  
  • Adobe Connect has been decommissioned.  If you would like to keep any Adobe Connect recordings, they will need to be downloaded and saved by November 2nd, 2020. Please see the instructions in the IT Support Self-Service knowledge article Creating Offline Recordings.
  • In your Canvas course navigation, EagleVision (Adobe Connect) is now EagleVision Zoom. For more information about using EagleVision Zoom visit RCTLE Zoom Resource.
